I would like to point out the importance of the Olympic games of this year. Beyond being a celebration of the human spirit, it must be a great opportunity to make a great reflection about the state-of-affairs on China. Most of you must know that Tibet was since its beginning a sovereign country with its own form of government, coin and culture; which was unlawfully attacked by communist china around 1959. Since that time the iron glove government of China has undermined, destroyed, a civilization that has the right as any other, of choosing its own way of life. My words will always be too short to describe the size of the monstrosity against the Tibetan people. But today we can do something about this: support the Tibetan cause. And this is of benefit for us all, because in a world where countries defend their right of existence, with the support of others. This will create an atmosphere of confidence between nations making it clear that no country stands alone in the fight for human rights, for self-sovereignty, for the right of defend our cultures. A time like this is a time of challenge, for one, the reevaluation of our visions of reality, to construct real empathy for others, and to hold responsibility of our views an action.

Certainly this summer’s games will not be quiet ones, this games my friends will be like no others, because this event will be the thread where the fate of a country, a culture, and its people, hangs over. I ask all of you to make this reflection, before and during this event, for no nation that crush human rights should be worthy of hosting any celebration of the human spirit, let alone have the Olympic games; with a bloodied scenario.
